Though I haven't been reviewing it, The Unenthusiastic Critic and I have been watching HBO's True Detective, and we find ourselves continually impressed by the overall excellence of the show, the strength of the performances, and the quality of the writing.
Most of all, however, we keep coming back for the irrepressible happiness of its world-view. It's really hard to think of another show that is so consistently upbeat, optimistic, and life-affirming. True Detective is just one of those stories that makes you feel good about humanity, good about the world, and good about being alive. With only one episode left, we're already trying to figure out what we can replace it with to get our our weekly injection of edification.

And so, while discussing how True Detective puts a spring in our step and a song in our hearts, my girlfriend had the marvelous idea of creating greeting cards based on the gentle wit and wisdom of Rust Cohle and his friends. In pursuing this idea, we were pleased to see that someone already saw the endless potential in True Detective Valentines, but we believe that True Detective truly does provide a comforting homily for nearly every occasion.
