I'm not sure that Michael Haneke can be "your man," fully, until you've sat through the other incredibly effective atrocities of human nature that he's inflicted on the world (starting with genital mutilation in The Piano Teacher and working your way down from there). I feel you're overlooking Smokey and the Bandit, Chris. Otherwise, I thought she made a very convincing Sally Field in that movie where she played Sally Field. And that other one where she played Southern Sally Field. And steel-worker Sally Field. And Forest Gump's mother Sally Field.

Brilliant observations ... you've added to my 'must now see because someone recommended to do so' movie list. I shared your insight into Sally Field's horrible appearance; I was elbowed by my wife for laughing aloud in the movie theater when Ms.Field was on screen. She was much better in .... oh wait, that wasn't her. Was she ever good in anything? Keep in mind I'll throw an elbow to the throat at the first person who says "flying nun."
