I was also hoping Dr. Rapey would get vaporized in the war, but I liked this so much better. If he had died in Vietnam, he would have been remembered as a hero. Instead, Joanie took agency for herself, called him out for what he is - a coward, a weakling, and a rapist - and showed him the door. Good for her. It was a GREAT moment in her character arc. I may or may not have fist pumped the air sitting alone in my living room.
