"For me anyway, the shine is off the apple. It’s still good entertainment, but that’s about it."

OK. That's too harsh. The whole idea that on some level I wanted this album to be somewhat based on true events is a "long division" reading of Dan's mind. That's just NOT going to sell newspapers. Let's just say I probably read too much NON-fiction. This record is great performance the way a good circus is. I remember the Gorilla Lady at the Monmouth Fair c.1976. She started out as a woman...grew a complete body full of hair in about 1 minute...became a gorilla...and then chased everybody out of the tent. I MADE my dad pay for that. The awesome colored artwork outside the tent was enough to make anyone pay the cost.

I DO pronounce "Evelyn Evelyn" well worth the cost of owning it, and I don't easily shell out cash for music. In fact, it's beyond that...and quite good.

Over and out.

In reply to <a href="https://unaffiliatedcritic.com/2011/05/evelyn-evelyn-music-review/#comment-28">Dan...again</a>.

Hmmm. You know, there were two drastically different approaches I could have taken in writing this review, and they each had their attractions. I decided to go one way, and your question would require me to go the other way, so... I'm not sure how to respond.

I guess the first thing I'd say is that the answer to your question is pretty easy to find with a quick Google search.

The second thing I'd say is that, for myself, I was never in the least in doubt about what I was listening to, and I don't think anyone was trying to play anyone for a sucker. (Including me: in fact, one of the reasons I included the photos and links is because I thought the truth was fairly self-explanatory.)

Thirdly, I think real life is fun, but art is better. But that's me.

Finally, I haven't met them, but they seem like very nice, honest girls.

OK. I went out and downloaded this onto my iPod. It's very good.

But I NEED to know this. Do Eve and Lyn Neville (or conjoined twins who had semi-similar experiences to the record) actually exist? If they do, I'm going to increase my review rating from "very good" to "extremely good." If not, I'm slightly disappointed.

The album is very well done anyway, but if there is a fair amount of truth to this amazing story I'm entirely sold. My imagination then tries to recreate lots more of the Neville's "upbringing," and I'm enthralled...and also quite sad.

However, if this whole thing is a complete fictional creation I feel like I'm 95% a sucker. For me anyway, the shine is off the apple. It's still good entertainment, but that's about it.
